The purpose of martial arts has nothing to do with victory or loss in battle, but rather, with psychological growth and spiritual development. Budotherapyis about Self-growth and compassionate presence in the interpersonal healing encounter, common to both psychotherapy and martial arts. This method is also closely related to mindfulness-based therapies, especially Compassion-focused Therapy (CFT), and engages in developing the ability to bravely face deep emotions, contain pain and difficulties, and achieve a life of love, emotional partnership, a sense of security, and inner freedom.
